Understanding the Career
Wildland firefighters work to suppress and manage fires in forests, grasslands, and other natural areas. The work is physical, team-based, and often seasonal.
Most firefighters work as part of a crew — handcrews, engines, helitack, and others — each with different tools, schedules, and environments.
